Ireland returns mummies and coffins to Egypt








The mummified human remains and sarcophagus are among the artifacts the university in Ireland said it plans to repatriate to Egypt.

All artifacts were returned by University College Cork (UCC) dated between 100AD and 975BC.

An inscription on a wooden coffin donated to the UCC indicates that it belonged to a man named Haw.

UCC said it plans to return the goods in 2023.

It was believed that the human remains belonged to an adult man. and was donated to the UCC in 1928.

These jugs are the oldest items. which should last between 945-700 BC and was purchased by UCC from an antiques dealer in Yorkshire.

There is no record of how the boxes arrived at the university.
